Trial Run: NFR successfully conducts speed trials on Mariani-Simaluguri-Dibrugarh section

IRCON has taken a major step towards Mission 100% Electrification with the successful statutory inspection and speed trial at full sectional speed on Mariani-Simaluguri-Dibrugarh section (151 RKM & 193 TKM) in Tinsukia Division, N.F. Railway. The milestone enables 25kV Electric Traction, boosting efficiency and sustainability while reducing carbon emissions.

Successful Inspection & Speed Trial:

In a significant development towards achieving Mission 100% Electrification, IRCON has successfully completed the statutory inspection of the Principal Chief Electrical Engineer (PCEE), followed by a speed trial at full sectional speed on the Mariani-Simaluguri-Dibrugarh railway section in the Tinsukia Division of Northeast Frontier (N.F.) Railway. The trial was conducted on February 19-20, 2025, covering 151 Route Kilometers (RKM) and 193 Track Kilometers (TKM).

  • Additionally, the Simaluguri Traction Substation (TSS) was back charged on February 18, 2025, marking another crucial step in the electrification process.
  • This development is expected to significantly enhance the operational efficiency of train services in the region.
  • With the successful completion of this milestone, trains will now operate on 25kV Electric Traction, ensuring improved reliability, reduced dependency on fossil fuels, and lower operational costs.
  • More importantly, this aligns with the Indian Railways’ larger vision of achieving a carbon-neutral and eco-friendly transportation system.

Conclusion:

The electrification of the Mariani-Simaluguri-Dibrugarh section is a major achievement for IRCON and Indian Railways in their Mission 100% Electrification journey. This milestone will not only improve efficiency and sustainability but also reinforce India’s commitment to green energy, reducing carbon footprints and enhancing railway infrastructure for the future.
