RVNL secures Rs. 294 crore contract for Navipet-Indalvai track doubling project

Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) for the EPC contract from South Central Railway. The project covers doubling 33.7 km of track between Navipet and Indalvai stations, including electrification and signalling work. Estimated at INR 294.9 crore, it will enhance connectivity in Telangana within 24 months.


Project Overview:

  • Project Scope: Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) Contract of Doubling of Track between Na vi pet station (Exel) From Km 446.900 to Indalvai Station (Incl) Km 482.900 (33.70 km), {Excluding Nizamabad Yard from Km 458.825 to 461.125 {i.e.) 2.3Km} including Electrification & Signalling works in of South-Central Railway in connection with MudkhedMedchal Doubling Project in the State ofTelangana. 
  • Awarded Value: INR 294,94,80,683.34/-
  • Contract Period: 24 Months

Scope of Work:

  • Site Surveys and Investigations:
    • Validation of data provided by the authority.
    • Additional surveys if required, including traverse, topographic, and geotechnical surveys.
    • Establishment of a horizontal and vertical control system with benchmarks.
  • Excavated Materials:
    • Excavated earth/stones are owned by the contractor.
    • Suitable materials for embankment use; surplus to be disposed outside railway boundaries.
  • Civil and Track Construction:
    • Track Requirements: Designed for double-line operations at a max speed of 130 km/h, with future upgrade potential to 160 km/h.
    • Standards: Built to IRS 25T-2008 loading standard with a 25T axle load capacity.
  • Alignment and Geometric Design:
    • Alignment as per schematic plans, subject to contractor’s review.
    • Geometric standards (gradients, curves) per Indian Railway Manual.
    • Verification of formation levels along alignment for accurate final design.

Conclusion:

The RVNL project will significantly bolster South Central Railway’s capacity in Telangana, optimising the line for high-speed, heavy-load traffic and contributing to India’s rail modernization. With stringent design standards and operational flexibility, the project aims to enhance regional connectivity and support future expansion.
