Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone and dedicated Rs. 547 crore worth of major railway projects in Andhra Pradesh. These include new lines, doubling, and a rail-over-rail flyover — boosting connectivity, improving freight movement, and transforming passenger experiences, while marking a decade of record railway investment in the state.
Foundation Stone for New Rail Projects:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled railway projects worth Rs. 547 crore, setting the stage for faster, more reliable rail travel across Andhra Pradesh. This includes a 3rd rail line between New West Block Hut Cabin and Vijayawada, Rail Over Rail (Guntakal West – Mallappa Gate, and a doubling project.
Third Rail Line (New West Block Hut Cabin – Vijayawada, 5 km, Rs. 70 crore):
Designed to ease congestion, this third line will enable faster train movements, reduce delays, and streamline freight and passenger services across busy routes.
Rail Over Rail (Guntakal West – Mallappa Gate, 10 km, Rs. 293 crore):
This innovative rail bypass will decongest Guntakal Junction, shorten the Dhone–Ballari route by 5 km, and enable smooth freight movement, boosting business efficiency.
Doubling Project (Bugganapalle Cement Nagar – Panyam, 19 km, Rs. 184 crore):
Strengthening connectivity between Rayalaseema and Amaravati, this project will enhance speed, open new economic opportunities, and significantly support cement, coal, rice, and iron ore industries.
Historic Investment in Andhra Pradesh’s Railways:
- The Prime Minister highlighted the massive surge in railway investment: from under Rs. 900 crore (2009–2014) to over Rs. 9,000 crore today.
- Andhra Pradesh now boasts 100% railway electrification, eight pairs of Vande Bharat trains, the Amrit Bharat train, and over 750 rail flyovers and underpasses built in the past decade.
Modernizing Stations Under Amrit Bharat Scheme:
Over 70 railway stations across Andhra Pradesh are undergoing modernization under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The goal is delivering world-class passenger amenities, upgraded infrastructure, and transforming stations into bustling, future-ready transport hubs that reflect India’s rapid railway modernization efforts.
