IRCON successfully launches 76.20m open web girder for Katni grade separator project

IRCON has achieved a significant milestone in the Katni Grade Separator Project, launching a 76.20m open web girder (328 MT) with a 49m cantilever nose (82 MT) over existing tracks. Executed with precision within a 4-hour block on December 10, 2024, the project is nearing completion with only six girders remaining.

The Katni Grade Separator Project, India’s longest viaduct grade separator, being executed by IRCON, has reached another milestone with the successful launch of a 76.20m open web girder, weighing 328 MT, on December 10, 2024. This engineering feat was accomplished within a planned 4-hour block, showcasing precision and safety.

Details of the Milestone:

The girder launch included a cantilever nose of 49m length, weighing 82 MT, installed over an existing railway track. The process was executed in just 2 hours and 30 minutes, highlighting the meticulous planning and advanced engineering involved in the project.

Progress Update:

With this latest achievement, the project has successfully launched 254 girders for the UP grade separator, with only six girders remaining for completion of the viaduct. The project reflects the Indian Railways’ commitment to enhancing infrastructure with innovative and efficient methods.
