Marking a pivotal move towards India’s “Make in India” initiative, Frauscher Sensor Technology India has officially begun construction of the state-of-the-art global manufacturing hub in Mysore, Karnataka. The official launch took place on August 7, 2025, is a strategic step to reinforce railway infrastructure in India and contribute towards global competitiveness of the country’s rail supply chain.
Set to complement its Austrian manufacturing unit, the Mysore facility showcases Frauscher’s long-term strategic emphasis on localisation, innovation, and regional partnership.
Facility Overview:
Spanning 1.55 lakh square feet, this two-storey facility will be home to:
- Production Units on the ground floor for sensors and board manufacturing
- Office Space and R&D Centre on the first floor
- Frauscher Training Centre to offer hands-on training to railway professionals, partners, and customers
- Frauscher Experience Centre to showcase technologies and provide immersive learning experiences
This infrastructure will not only enhance domestic capabilities but also support exports across Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and emerging markets.
Empowering Local Innovation & Global Reach:
The new R&D hub at the Mysore facility will enable Frauscher to design and develop products tailored specifically to the needs of Indian Railways. The company’s mission is to empower rail operators, enhance safety, and increase operational efficiency across the rail network.
Sustainability-Driven Infrastructure:
Frauscher’s new hub reflects its global commitment to sustainability. Key environmental features include:
- 100% wastewater recycling
- Rainwater harvesting systems
- Groundwater recharge via percolation pits
- Rooftop solar panels for clean energy generation
The green design ensures the plant is future-ready not just in technology, but also in environmental responsibility.
Ceremonial Launch: Honouring Culture and Collaboration:
A traditional groundbreaking ceremony was held to mark the start of construction. The event featured:
- A symbolic blessing
- Shovel-turning ceremony
- Tree planting to represent sustainable growth
The event saw attendance from Indian Railways officials, regional leaders, and industry partners, demonstrating a collective push for a future-proof railway ecosystem.
