DFCCIL MD Shri Praveen Kumar visited the Kyosan’s El and Kavach manufacturing facility at Avalon Technologies

Shri Praveen Kumar, MD of DFCCIL, visited Avalon Technologies Ltd. in Chennai along with senior officials. The delegates reviewed the Electronic Interlocking (EI) and Kavach safety systems at Kyosan’s manufacturing facility. Kyosan’s latest EI version was also presented, with Direct Drive feature, and successful Kavach trials were also demonstrated.


Introduction:

Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL) Managing Director Shri Praveen Kumar, in a significant step to improve India’s railway modernization efforts, visited Avalon Technologies Ltd. in Chennai. The visit where he was accompanied by Shri Arjun Singh Tomar, GGM/S&T/EC along with senior officials, highlighted the manufacturing of advanced signaling and safety systems, including Electronic Interlocking (EI) and Kavach, India’s indigenous train protection technology.

Focus on Manufacturing and Quality:

The team were provided an in-depth tour of the facility, observing the detailed process of manufacturing electronic cards for EI and Kavach systems. Officials also carefully reviewed the stringent quality practices and advanced techniques applied to ensure reliability and efficiency on production.

Unveiling of Next-Gen EI: K5D with Direct Drive:

During the visit, Kyosan also presented its newly introduced version of Electronic Interlocking, K5D with Direct Drive, a technology upgrade aimed at enhancing operational performance and ensuring robust signalling capabilities.

Successful Kavach Trials Demonstrated:

Kyosan also presented successful trial demonstrations of Kavach, India’s indigenous train collision avoidance system. This reaffirmed the nation’s progress toward deploying advanced protection systems for safer railway operations.

The visit emphasized DFCCIL’s commitment to strengthening railway operations by adopting advanced signalling and protection systems. With innovative solutions like K5D and Kavach, India is moving closer to safer, smarter railways.
