Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has signed a 13-year agreement with ACES India Pvt. Ltd. to improve mobile connectivity across Phase-2 of Namma Metro. The agreement states that BMRCL will lease their premises to ACES for deploying telecom infrastructure across elevated and underground stretches. This partnership aims to support 4G/5G networks and generate non-fare revenue.
Introduction:
In a major stride towards elevating commuter experience and optimising operational efficiency, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has entered into a landmark 13-year license agreement with Advanced Communications and Electronics Systems Company (ACES) India Pvt. Ltd. The alliance is aimed at delivering smooth mobile network coverage throughout Phase-2 of Namma Metro.
Scope of the Partnership:
Under this agreement ACES India will rent designated spaces within BMRCL premises to install, operate, and maintain telecom infrastructure, including:
- IBS (In-Building Solutions)
- BTS (Base Transceiver Stations)
- Cellular Towers
- Smart Poles
These installations will be deployed across:
- Four Extensions of Phase-1
- Reach-5 & Reach-6 of Phase-II
Strategic Benefits:
- Improve mobile connectivity across elevated and underground sections of the metro.
- Ensure support for multiple mobile network operators.
- Optimize the efficient use of metro infrastructure.
- Reduce deployment cost and space duplication.
- Enable faster rollout of advanced 4G and 5G services.
This initiative is part of BMRCL’s broader non-fare revenue generation strategy, showcasing the organization’s commitment to sustainable urban mobility.

Signing Ceremony Highlights:
The agreement was signed between Shri A.S. Shankar, Executive Director (Systems), BMRCL and Dr. Mohammed N. Mazher, Managing Director, ACES India. The event witnessed the presence of key dignitaries including Dr. Akram Aburas, Group CEO, ACES; Shri Sunil Bhargava, Director (RSE & O&M), BMRCL and other officials from both BMRCL and ACES India. This strategic decision was a key step towards the adoption of smart mobility infrastructure for urban rail systems in India.
