BEML wins Rs. 1,888 crore order from Integral Coach Factory for advanced LHB coaches

BEML Limited has won a Rs. 1,888 crore order for manufacturing, supplying, testing, and commissioning LHB coaches from Integral Coach Factory, Chennai. This contract involves manufacturing of advance day and sleeper variants of LHB coaches. The supply will boost Indian Railways’ modernization and align with the Company’s ‘Make in India’ vision.


Introduction:

In a major step towards enhancing railway modernization in India, Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai has awarded a substantial contract worth approximately Rs. 1,888 crore  to BEML Limited. The order involves the manufacture, supply, testing, and commissioning of complete, fully functional Linke-Hofmann-Busch (LHB) passenger coaches in both day and sleeper configurations.

The project is expected to be completed within a 15-month timeline, showcasing BEML’s ability to manufacture world class rolling stocks under a strict time-period.

This order is a vital part of Indian Railways’ ongoing transformation plan to replace older, loco-hauled coaches with modern LHB coaches. Known for their superior safety, comfort, and operational efficiency, LHB coaches represent the future of passenger rail travel in India.
