Patna Metro undergoes inspections ahead of launch, strengthening urban mobility in Bihar

Patna Metro advancing closer to operational readiness as Minister Shri Jibesh Kumar (UDHD) and senior officials including Smt. Abhilasha Sharma, IAS, conducted vital ground inspections. The Minister visited the Metro Depot & Zeromile Station, and Smt. Abhilasha Sharma conducted a comprehensive site inspection of key stations of priority corridor before launch of the Patna Metro.


Introduction:

Patna Metro, an ambitious project set to transform urban mobility in the heart of Bihar, is going to be operational soon. With comprehensive inspections conducted by the Minister Shri Jibesh Kumar and senior officials of PMRCL and UDHD, confidence in the project’s timely progress and operational readiness has been reinforced.

Ministerial Visit – From Depot to Station:

Hon’ble Minister Shri Jibesh Kumar (Minister, UDHD) recently visited two important sites of the Patna Metro project — the Metro Depot and Zeromile Metro Station. At the Depot, the Minister was given an overview of the modern rolling stock and state-of-the-art facilities dedicated to train operations and maintenance.

At Zeromile Metro Station, he reviewed passenger-centric designs that emphasize safety, accessibility, and convenience. With features aimed at ensuring smooth and comfortable journeys, the station reflects the project’s focus on creating world-class infrastructure for commuters.

During the visit, Secretary UDHD and MD, PMRCL, Shri Abhay Kumar Singh, provided a comprehensive briefing on the progress achieved so far, highlighting preparations underway for the operational phase.

Pre-Inspection by Smt. Abhilasha Sharma:

Just a day before the ministerial review, Smt. Abhilasha Sharma, IAS (Additional Managing Director, PMRCL cum Joint Secretary, UDHD), carried out a thorough site inspection. Her visit covered major stations along the priority corridor, including Patliputra Bus Terminal, Zeromile, and Bhoothnath Metro Stations, along with the Metro Depot.

Her review focused on:

  • Civil Works: Ensuring structural completion and quality compliance.
  • Finishing & Artwork: Inspecting final touches to improve commuter experience.
  • Electrical & Safety Systems: Reviewing readiness of installations for reliable service.

She engaged directly with teams on-ground, offering directions to align project execution with expected standards and deadlines.

Power Infrastructure – A Crucial Step Forward:

In addition to station and depot checks, Smt. Abhilasha Sharma also assessed the 132/33/25 kV Switching Station, a critical element of the metro’s power supply system. Her visit underlined the importance of operational efficiency and adherence to safety protocols. With the switching station now charged, the project is on course to energize Patna’s modern transit system.

Significance of the Visits:

Both visits highlight the government’s proactive monitoring and commitment to delivering the Patna Metro as per schedule. The combination of ministerial oversight and administrative diligence sends a strong message of accountability and dedication towards completing this flagship infrastructure project.
