Chennai Metro signs contract with Kousic & Co. for construction of Vadapalani skywalk linking Phase-1 & Phase-2

Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has signed a Rs. 8.12 crore contract to construct a fare-controlled skywalk connecting Phase-1 and Phase-2 Vadapalani Metro Stations. The skywalk aims to ease commuters’ journey by protecting them from harsh weather and reducing congestion. The order is expected to be completed within a strict timeline of 120 days, showcases CMRL’s effort to enhance urban travel experience.


Introduction:

Marking a pivotal move towards boosting urban mobility and commuter convenience, Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has officially signed an agreement for the construction of a Skywalk Link between the Phase-1 and Phase-2 Vadapalani Metro Stations. The development’s objective is to provide a direct, fare-controlled connection, streamlining transfers and ensuring safe, efficient passenger movement.

The agreement was signed in the presence of Shri T. Archunan, Director (Projects), CMRL, with Shri S. Ashok Kumar (CGM – T & EC) representing CMRL and Shri K. G. MohanRaj, Managing Partner, Kousic & Co., representing the contractor. Several senior CMRL officials, including Dr. D. Jebaselwin Gladson (CGM – CP & M) and Smt. Rekha Prakash (CGM – P&D), witnessed the event.
