BMRCL has launched QR ticketing by the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), ensuring travellers can purchase tickets by more than one app like Rapido, Paytm, Redbus, and others. This showcases how BMRCL is working on enhancing passenger convenience, improving urban mobility and including advanced solutions in the growing metro network of Bangalore.
Introduction:
In a major stride towards advancing digital mobility, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has enabled online QR ticketing through the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC). This initiative allows the passengers to buy their tickets digitally through multiple apps, this shows a move towards a digitally inclusive transit system in the region.
Convenient Access Through Popular Apps:
Passengers can now buy BMRCL QR tickets directly through multiple popular ONDC-enabled consumer-facing apps. These include–
- Paytm
- Highway Delite
- Magicpin (via Tummoc)
- Rapido
- Redbus
- Turner
- Yatri
Along with these apps, passengers can also buy their tickets via WhatsApp Chatbot and Paytm app, it provides cashless and hassle free ticket buying process.
Advancing Digital Commuting in Bangalore:
BMRCL has chosen this strategic decision to accelerate the travel experience and ease the ticket purchasing process for the passengers. Passengers can now have two options to buy their tickets, one is the traditional one and other is digitally focussed solution to ease the process. Bangalore is a growing urban area having around 8 lakh weekday riders in the Namma Metro, the online ticketing solution will benefit the commuters by reducing travel time and improving travel convenience.
This initiative is a strategic move under BMRCL’s broader digital roadmap to enhance the travel experience and reduce dependency on traditional ticketing methods. With Bangalore being a fast-growing urban hub and over 8 lakh weekday riders using Namma Metro, digital ticketing solutions are not just a convenience — they are essential.
By integrating with the ONDC platform, BMRCL is strengthening its commitment to inculcate open-source, scalable solutions that empower both consumers and service providers. The open digital framework enables seamless integration with several platforms, eradicating monopolistic restrictions and promoting interoperability.

Commuters can now plan and book their entire city journey from doorstep to destination via one mobile app.”
