K-RIDE has awarded a Rs. 525 crore contract to ITD Cementation India Ltd. for constructing four key stations on Bengaluru Suburban Rail’s Corridor-2. The scope includes civil, structural, architectural, MEP, and station system works for Yesvantpur, Shettyhalli, Myadarahalli, and Chikkabanavara, with one interchange and an elevated viaduct to Soladevanahalli Depot.
Introduction:
In a major development for Bengaluru’s urban rail infrastructure, K-RIDE (Rail Infrastructure Development Company (Karnataka) Limited) has awarded a contract worth Rs. 525.5 crore to ITD Cementation India Limited for the construction of four key stations under the Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project (BSRP).
The contract is under to Package C2B of Corridor-2, consisting the construction of the following four stations-
- Yesvantpur (Elevated Interchange Station)
- Shettyhalli (Elevated Station)
- Myadarahalli (At-Grade Station)
- Chikkabanavara (At-Grade Station)
This package includes-
- An elevated viaduct approximately 500 meters in length
- A down ramp towards Soladevanahalli Depot
- Civil and structural works, steel foot overbridges (FOBs), roof structures, PEB (Pre-Engineered Building) works, architectural finishes, and façade design
- Entry/Exit structures and plumbing
- Electrical & Mechanical (E&M) works
- Complete Detailed Design & Engineering (DDE) scope
- All allied station infrastructure and services
Comprehensive Building Services Integration:
In addition to civil and architectural construction, the contract mandates installation of a full range of station building services, aligned with modern standards of Indian Railways, suburban, and metro rail systems. These services are integral to ensuring safe, energy-efficient, and commuter-friendly operations. The key systems include:
- Electrical Systems– Lighting, power distribution, and backup power
- Hydraulic Systems– Water supply, sewage, and stormwater systems
- Fire Detection & Protection Systems– Alarms, sprinklers, and fire-fighting infrastructure
- Building Management System (BMS)– Centralized monitoring and control
- HVAC– Heat ventilation and air conditioning for commuter comfort
These elements are designed to enhance both functionality and commuter experience while ensuring compliance with technical specifications and safety codes.
Strategic Importance:
Corridor-2 of BSRP plays a vital role in improving suburban connectivity across North Bengaluru and integrates with other transport modes. With Yesvantpur station acting as a major interchange, this contract sets the groundwork for seamless passenger movement and future capacity expansion.
About the Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project (BSRP):
BSRP is an ambitious rail-based urban transport initiative, aimed at providing an efficient alternative to road traffic congestion in Bengaluru. The project is being implemented by K-RIDE, a joint venture between the Government of Karnataka and the Ministry of Railways.
